ISET: The International Society for EMDR Therapy
The Alliance aims to cooperate in the development of best training practices and standards in order to promote and facilitate the growth of EMDR therapy world-wide.
The EMDR Global Alliance was first an informal group of representatives of all regional associations from around the world. In 2023, the Global Alliance expanded with the creation of "The International Society for EMDR Therapy" uniting more than 90 countries worldwide. It gathers regional associations EMDR Europe, EMDR Asia, EMDR Africa, EMDR Latin America and the Caribbean, EMDR Middle East & North Africa/Arab countries, and EMDR Australia.
The Alliance aims to cooperate in the development of best training practices and standards in order to promote and facilitate the growth of EMDR therapy world-wide.
The EMDR Global Alliance provides an international forum for communication, discussion and decisions relevant to the research, the teaching, the practice and the development of EMDR therapy, and the adherence to the guidelines concerning these domains.
Role of the International Society
The EMDR Global Alliance serves as an advisory body, supporting the development of emerging EMDR associations. It formulates operational guidelines based on a shared vision and mission, harmonizes training requirements and standards, and evaluates best training practices.
Core Objectives
The fundamental goal of the International Society for EMDR Therapy is to promote and facilitate the global growth of EMDR therapy worldwide. This involves increasing access to EMDR therapy for diverse populations and expanding the number of stakeholders dedicated to the dissemination of EMDR therapy.
Mission Statement
Mission Statement of the EMDR Global Alliance – The International Society for EMDR Therapy:
- Support and Growth: To provide support for developing EMDR regional, national, and special administrative region associations, increasing the number of stakeholders committed to advancing EMDR therapy.
- Best Practices and Standards: To collaborate on creating and implementing best training practices and standards, promoting the global growth of EMDR therapy.
- Resource Sharing: To share resources that facilitate the development, acceptance, and utilization of EMDR therapy within various global communities.
- International Forum: To offer an international platform for communication, discussion, and decision-making related to the research, teaching, practice, and development of EMDR therapy, ensuring adherence to established guidelines in these domains.
The International Society for EMDR Therapy is dedicated to uniting the global EMDR community, fostering collaboration, and advancing the practice of EMDR therapy worldwide.
